My Cleansing Routine: Makeup, Brushes and Skin

As you know, cleansing your skin is important, but what a lot of people don't realise is that's important to keep your makeup and brushed clean and hygienic too. Recently I've been using The Pro Hygiene Collection from 25o, who sell everything from skincare to makeup. The set contains: Makeup Antibacterial Spray, Makeup Brush Cleaner, Hand Sanitising Gel, Makeup Brush & Sponge Sanitising Wash and “Melt Away” All In One Makeup Remover.

First is my favourite bottle out of the pack: the makeup remover. I love this as a replacement for makeup wipes. It's quick, easy and removes even waterproof makeup. I wear quite a lot of mascara so using wipes is difficult as it doesn't remove it all and is quite painful. But, this remover takes it all off pain-free which is amazing. I like to use this every night before bed.

To clean my brushes, I firstly use the makeup brush cleaner. It removes even super pigmented makeup off my brushes and leaves them clean and sanitised. The cleaner is quick drying also, so it's so useful if you're in a rush. I also like to use the sanitising wash on my brushes and sponges to remove any bacteria before using them again. This is so handy if you have spots, like myself, and don't want them to spread over your face through your brushes.

Until now, I've never cleansed my makeup but it's so important to keep it clean since it's going on your face! Hopefully now my spots will be reduced since it removes 99.9% of bacteria and it inhabits the regrowth of bacteria between uses.

Finally is the hand sanitising gel which I like to just carry around in my bag and use from time to time to keep my hands refreshed and clean without having to take a trip to the bathroom to wash my hands.

You can get the set over here and it comes in a fab travel case. It also makes a great gift!

Anorexia Recovery: 2 Years Later

If you didn't already know, this week is Mental Health Awareness Week so I felt as if I should do my part to contributing to awareness and prevention of mental illnesses such as anorexia. So many people feel alone when they have a mental illness, but you're not and I hope this post can give you some hope that it really does get better.

If you're a reader of my blog, then you'd know over a year ago I'd posted my recovery story: 1 year later (read it here) but that was a year ago and since then there's been so many changes. A year ago, 2 months after I wrote the post, I dropped to my lowest ever weight and became very unwell physically. This was due to stress and anxiety through change as I'd just started a new college. Between Summer 2014 and the beginning of 2015 was the worst spell of my physical illness and I was very weak.

However, mentally I was doing so much better and it was all thanks to going on holiday (pictured above). During this time, I learned to stop being obsessive over macros, I stopped counting calories and I didn't feel the need to exercise 24/7. During this time, I learned to become normal again. Summer was such a happy time for me because I felt myself going back to the old Jordan. The Jordan who could enjoy time with her friends, the one who didn't panic around food. It was amazing to feel like that again.

New Year's Eve 2014

From that day, I never counted calories again (well not as thoroughly anyways). I deleted My Fitness Pal, the app which controlled my life, and stopped using my private Instagram which fuelled my eating disorder. It was a hard time to just stop the routine but I felt so free. The voices in my head got quieter and I didn't feel so drawn in. Honestly, I think going on holiday was the most major thing in my recovery. Even though it was just a week, it pushed me to where I needed to be.

August 2015

So, in a year, since my last post, so much has changed. I'm so much better and happier, both physically and mentally. I've gained quite a bit of weight, but overall I feel better. It's nice to having to worry about low blood pressure, low heart rate or even wondering if you'll ever be able to have kids or not (yep this is the reality of eating disorders guys, it's not pretty!!). I'll save that for another post maybe though. Some days, I still struggle, but I have amazing support and it lasts about an hour before I'm back to eating chips and chocolate oops!

So, if you've managed to read all this then you get extra brownie points. I am living, breathing proof that recovery is possible. I'm not fully recovered, no one really ever is, but I can cope 98% of the time and difficulties are rare to come by in regards to food. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or email me via my 'contact me' page and I'll be super happy to respond.

Thanks for reading,

The Handbag Clinic

Last week, I got the chance to attend the opening of the new Handbag Clinic in Newcastle. Basically, the Handbag Clinic is a place to get your handbags fixed but they also had amazing selection of second hand bags available to buy (including an amazing Céline bag which I fell in love with). They also provide other services such as recolouring the soles of Louboutin's - which I didn't even know existed! Here's some pictures from the event:

WHY I'M TAKING A GAP YEAR

Today's post is something a little bit different and unusual compared to the usual fashion-y things I write about but I thought this would be interesting for a lot of people in the same situation as me. I'm currently in my final year at college and everyone's making big decisions for their future but for me, things are a bit more simpler as I've decided not to go to University straight away and take a gap year, and here's why:

1) I'm just not ready
The main reason why I'm not jumping straight into University is because I feel like there's far too much pressure from college and society to go there. It's made out as if you have to go to Uni as soon as you leave college/sixth form or you'll have no future. But that's just not the case. If you feel as if you're not ready, then hold it off. Don't force yourself to go if you don't want to because you feel forced into it.

2) Expenses
There's no getting around the fact that University is ridiculously expensive, and as much I disagree with it, unfortunately there's not a lot I can do about it. As most of you will know, maintenance grants have been took away by the government which means moving out would be a huge struggle for me. So, I've decided to stay home, work and earn some money so life during University will be a bit easier!

3) TRAVEL
Gap years are a perfect time to travel so I've planned a few things to do during that time. Hopefully they all definitely follow through but it'd be amazing to see some and experience new things. The main things I'd love to do are: spend a month on holiday with my family, intern in London, join Greenpeace and visit an economically deprived country and help out. Travel has helped me so much in my lifetime so a whole year of it would be amazing!

4) Focus on blogging
I've found balancing full-time education, a part-time job and a blog so so difficult due to the fact I just have no time at all and when I do have spare time, I'm studying. So, as some of you will have noticed, I'm super inactive and inconsistent with my blog. Hopefully, all the spare time I'll have will give me more time to work on my blog and make it fab for you guys.

5) Bored of education
I mean, I've been in it for 15 years... of course I'm bored!

6) Why not???
Despite all the major reasons, I'm thinking why the hell not? I deserve to just chill and have fun for a year!

So, there's my reasons for not going to University straight away. Did you take a gap year or are thinking of taking one? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear what you did/what you'll do!

I think everyone can agree on this one statement... it is freezing. Well unless you live in Spain or somewhere. But, if like me, you basically live in the Arctic, or England as some people call it, you'll totally agree with me. Unfortunately, we can't change the weather, but we can buy big, pretty coats to try keep us warm. I do love a nice coat so here's my top picks to keep you toasty this Winter.

A Guide To Paris

Paris: the city of love, fashion and the wine and cheese combination. In August, I visited the most beautiful city in the world for the 3rd time with my boyfriend. I adore Paris and everything about it, from the couture fashion stores to the cultural art galleries. I wanted to share my time in the city with you all so I thought I'd compose a guide to Paris to help those who are considering or are visiting Paris in the future.

Where To Stay
We stayed 5 nights in the Relais Saint Charles hotel, situated just a 10 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower and just a few metro stops away from the Champs Elysees. The hotel was located amazingly, right next to Dupleix metro station. There were also a number of boulangeries and restaurants nearby. The hotel was 3* but decorated beautifully and more than we expected for the price.

What To Eat
Being a vegetarian, eating in Paris was quite difficult for me as they don't quite grasp the idea of not eating meat so it limited my options, although I did manage to find some tasty things. Cheesy pasta was a must.

France is known for its cheese so what better to do than buy a cheese board to immerse yourself into the Parisienne culture. Not going to lie, I devoured this. French cheeses are the nicest I've ever tasted and 100000x better than British cheeses. So, if you get the chance to go to Paris, try the cheese!! Don't forget the wine to wash it down, too.

Boulangeries (bakeries in English) are to be found on every street. Each morning, I liked to start the day with a pan au chocolat, a croissant and some orange juice. Pastries are very cheap in Paris, unlike anything else so bag yourself as many as possible.

Of course, me and John chose to go to the Champs Elysees on the hottest day of our holiday, where it reached 32 degrees celsius. We were dying for something cold and refreshing so we stopped off at the Hagen Daaz Cafe. THIS IS A WARNING... the treats may look tempting, but the prices are not. These simple desserts were ridiculously expensive. Tasty, but not not tasty enough to be worth it.

What To See and Do
Galeries Lafayette/Printemps: The Harrods of Paris. The gorgeous department store boasts concessions from Saint Laurent to Chloé. Definitely worth a visit if you want to do a spot of shopping or if it's a rainy day.

Chanel, Rue Cambon: The original Chanel store. This store is a heritage site for lovers of la mode. It's the store in which Coco Chanel lived herself.

Champs Élysées/Arc de Triomphe: if you want a wider range of shopping choices including high street stores such as Sephora and Abercrombie and Fitch, then the Champs Élysées is the area for you. The street stretches on forever until finally reaching the Arc de Triomphe, one of Paris's most popular attractions.

Musée de L'orangerie: home to Monet's Waterlilies. Very large waterlilies in fact.

Palais Galiera: I visited the Palais when the Jeanne Lanvin exhibition was taking place. It was very outstanding and beautiful. Exhibitions are showcased here all year round so check on the website to see what's on when you're there.

Le Louvre: probably the most famous art gallery in Paris, home to the Mona Lisa and famous for its glass pyramid architecture. It was great to see such famous artwork, however, be prepared to be squashed by angry tourists trying to get to the front of the crowds.

The Seine: take a boat trip or just a stroll along the river Seine. Perhaps place a lock on one of the many bridges. I'd definitely recommend a Seine boat tour at night, as the lights are beautiful and you can get a view of the illuminated Eiffel Tower.
Eiffel Tower: this is also something to visit at night. We went at about 10pm when it was completely pitch black so we could see the lit up city below us. Of course, we went to the top floor but it was quite scary to say the least. On the hour in the dark hours, the Eiffel Tower sparkles. Not something to be missed.

Montemarte/Sacre Coeur: many famous artists and writers live in the area of Montmarte. It's a dainty little town full of markets and cute café's. Salvador Dali's exhibition is also here which is amazing to visit and see the sculpture recreations of his work. After walking through Montmartre, you'll reach Sacre Coeur. This area is high rise and looks out over miles and miles of Paris. They're very romantic areas to visit and me and John placed a love lock here as it was so lovely.

DISNEYLAND: and of course, leaving the best until last. Disneyland is a definite must when in Paris, whether you're 3, 18 or 90. Disneyland is situated about an hour away from central Paris but the RER (which is double decker and super cool) takes you straight there for around €7.50. It was the most fun day in Paris and definitely not one to forget. I wish we could have stayed there forever because it was just so amazing and I've never been so happy.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I hope that I've inspired you to visit Paris! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave a comment below!
